Cannes Royal Regatta 2014 is Underway
The city of Cannes is at the heart of yachting history...
The beautiful Bay of Cannes is once again hosting the Royal Regatta. As the final leg in the Trophée Panerai, the regatta is one of the most important and prestigious fixtures on the yachting calendar.
This year the Royal Regatta will be celebrating a special anniversary as the event marks the culmination of Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge's 10th season. This is expected to increase the number of visitors to the event and not only from within the yachting community but also general tourists who may be visiting in and around the Cannes area this week. To this end the organisers have created an impressive programme to ensure that the regatta is as accessible as possible for participants and spectators.
On offer as part of the celebration are open boat tours which will give visitors a unique opportunity to view the ships up close and to better understand how every member of crew takes part and works together as a team. In addition, a photography competition promoted by both the Yacht Club and City of Cannes will run throughout the week. The competition theme is 'Black, White or Sepia' - hoping that amateur photographers will think about capturing the timeless beauty associated with the yachts and the history of the location.
