French Air Traffic Control Strike Causes Delays
Flights cancelled and long delays for some travellers
A French air traffic control strike yesterday led to some flights being cancelled and around 170 flights being delayed.
Flights from the UK & Germany were most affected, and some flights had to re-route via Algeria & Italy. One of the worst delays was a 17 hour journey on a Thomson flight from Palma de Mallorca to London Gatwick.
People attending the Cannes film festival were also affected, with a double whammy of cab drivers also being on strike.
Today everything is expected to be back to normal, with flights allowed to cross French air space again.
