Traffic across France is expected to be extremely dense in all directions this weekend as road traffic info website, Bison Futé, has announced a black alert for this weekend.

Only four days throughout the year are set to black alert, and Saturday 3rd of August is one of the key dates, as many French and international tourists set off for their holidays, whilst others return.

Traffic heading along the main motorways is said to be dense in both directions as holiday makers head to Cannes are matched by the first set of holiday-makers returning home.
Temperatures are said to be on the up for the weekend with the thermometer hitting the mid-thirties, making driving conditions even more difficult.

It is advised to avoid travelling on black alert days and if travel is unavoidable, then to leave in advance and/or outside of peak travel times (8:00 - 16:00).
Also be sure to have enough water in the car to be able to face any traffic jams.

Saturday 10th of August is also set to be on black alert on the roads in France.
