This popular summer spot will get a much-needed facelift and bring a touch of 'la Croisette' to the La Bocca area of the city of Cannes.

Plans are now in place for improvements that will cost approximately €20million and will enhance not only the appeal of La Bocca for visitors but also the quality of life of residents. Part of the new project will include a new underwater rock system that will not only curb beach erosion but also provide a much wider pedestrian platform and promenade allowing for a two-way cycle path, playgrounds and sports apparatus.

A multiplex cinema is also part of the plan, as well as the future University of Cannes. The choice of architect for this part of the project has yet to be decided and building will not commence until August 2018.

Preparations for the work are due to begin in the first quarter or 2017.
