The Mayor of Cannes, David Lisnard, officially opened the newly renovated hall which is set to improve passenger comfort and act as an interface between the city and its transport network.

Although the area has been open to the public for the last few months, it was inaugurated with a certain ceremony at the beginning of this week. The interior decor mirrors the Palais des Festivals with high ceilings being covered in red folded fabric, chic red seating, sophisticated lighting and marble floors.

The new waiting area is now able to accommodate more passengers, has comfortable seating and connections are provided for travellers with tablets and smartphones. And what more could you want in a train station than a self service piano... Perfect for all those budding music stars!

Currently the Cannes train station sees nearly 3.4 million passengers a year and this is expected to rise to over 6 million in the next 10 years. With numbers like this it makes sense to provide more facilities and the future renovations will include a 125 room hotel and a large shopping centre, to be completed in early 2016.
