view into the caves

1. Caves of Saint Cezaire, Grasse

The awe-inspiring caves of Saint Cézaire are six million years old. Discovered by a farmer digging his field in 1890, they boast a wealth of beautiful, natural rock formations in fantastical forms.

Once inside, guided from room to room, visitors will discover the spectacular underground landscaped of an imposing world perfectly set off with appropriate, simple lighting. The whole route is perfectly laid out and safe.

At these depths, the extraordinary pinks and purples of the natural columns of rock create a magical atmosphere. The incredible beauty of the setting inspires the imagination, and the rock formations take on the shapes of birds with magnificent plumage, stars, corals, tentacled sea creatures, an astonishing skull and even a skeleton.

Les Calanques de l'Esterel, Saint Raphael

2. Les Calanques de l'Esterel, Saint-Raphael

Location
Saint-Raphael

Les Calanques de l'Esterel are rocky inlets and coves that expand from Saint-Raphael to Mandelieu-la-Napoule and drop steeply into the limpid waters of the Mediterranean.

Discover imposing rocky cliffs and multiple wild coves characterised by the contrast between the red colour of the granite rock and the turquoise blue sea. Easily accessible, they form one of the most remarkable landscape of the Côte d'Azur. Many ancient shipwrecks also lie in the shallow waters near the coast.

You can hike along these impressive formations and enjoy the breathtaking views over the Mediterranean sea, or book a boat trip and take a look at them from the sea. But don't forget your snorkelling gear, you won't be able to resist the turquoise waters.

Baume Obscure Cave, St Vallier de Thiey

3. Baume Obscure Cave, St Vallier de Thiey

The cave boasts a beautiful landscape and mineral gems that are the result of the slow and steady flow of water and limestone. Sound and lighting have been added to make the forms more spectacular.

This museum gives visitors feelings and sensations similar to those of a speleologist continually discovering, with the light of his lamp, an infinity of shapes and colours in the limestone rock.

Along the length of the picturesque course in a 700 metre loop, and guided by an original score by composer Christophe Guyard, the subtle play of light and shade seems to bring the cave to life.

Cascade de Courmes, Gorges du Loup

4. Gorges du Loup, Cannes Region

The narrow and beautiful Gorges du Loup cuts north-south through the hills at the foot of Gourdon, 12 km from Grasse.

About 4 km up the deep gorges, the Cascade de Courmes (waterfall) comes down over the rocks and then spills over large mossy boulders into the pool, 40m below the top. A spectacular sight!
