Royal Mougins Golf Club, Mougins

1. Royal Mougins Golf Course

Founded in 1993, the Royal Mougins Golf Club is a course of exceptional quality. Designed by world-famous American architect, the late Robert von Hagge, the par 71, 18-hole course extends for 6,004 m through a lush, wooded vale.

Located just a 10 minute drive from Cannes, the club is situated in the peaceful village of Mougins as part of the Royal Mougins Resort & Hotel. This luxurious course offers not only use of the course, but coaching, a prime golf academy, private events and boasts a splendid pro shop.

2. L'Etang de Fontmerle

This peaceful oasis in Mougins in one of the largest lotus ponds in Europe and is set in a beautiful park with woodlands stretching as far as Antibes.

As well as being known for its amazing vegetation, there are also over 70 bird species. It is a great place for a walk, a picnic, some cycling, or just lying around on the grass.

The pond was in peril. In 1992, Fontmerle pond was dying, invaded by phragmites, the common reed. The water surface was reduced to 3%. Rehabilitation works led to restoring almost half the 5 hectares. Phragmites still cover a large area where birds nest. Now, the lotuses still bloom and birds can thrive and reproduce. In the future, it will be important to maintain the right balance between water, phragmites and lotus to protect the ecosystem. Observation points and a bridge were built to help visitors see, hear and discover the wonderful world of this pond.

3. Cannes-Mougins Golf Country Course

The Cannes-Mougins Golf Club provides all features you are expecting from a modern golf within an historical environment. The Cannes Country Club was founded in 1923 by a group of illustrious gentlemen such as Aga Khan, Prince Pierre of Monaco and Baron Edouard de Rothschild.

The golf course was completely re-designed and rejuvenated in 1978 by Peter Allis and Dave Thomas. Now famous for the quality of its course and infrastructures, Cannes-Mougins Golf & Country Club has become the ultimate location on the French Riviera for golfers of Europe and the rest of the world.

This 18 hole, 6906 yards course is nestled in the heart of the Valmasque forest in a protected environment which is unique on the French Riviera. In the Valmasque forest, the course is crossed by a river, the Bouillide River. Indeed, a great course in a great environment.

During 14 years, the Golf Country Club of Cannes-Mougins has organized the Cannes Open. This competition was the highlight on the European Tour and some winners’ names are very famous such as Jean Garaialde, Greg Norman, Severiano Ballesteros, and Ian Woosnam.

4. The Valmasque Park

Covering 561 hectares this park is a beautifully protected area that is flourishing with wildlife, plants and birdlife! Go for a hike around the lake, enjoy a picnic by the river or take a ride on your mountain bike through the forest, there are lots of things to do at this park.

This is a great place to come and enjoy nature in a safe and welcoming environment, with good access and pathways to make it accessible to all. There are two running circuits, one of 3km and one of 6km, plus a fitness trail built over 1.4km. With plenty of additional walking and hiking paths so that you don't bump into runners, you can also stay clear of horse riders who have a separate 8km of trails to themselves.

The Fontmerle lake has a birdwatching observatory, a pond with different varieties of fish and gorgeous lotus flowers which bloom on its surface every August. The river Valmasque also flows through the park before reaching the river Brague which runs into Biot.

A great place for a family day out there are nearly 300 picnic tables and benches, as well as numerous playgrounds.

5. Salto Trampoline Arena

From foam pits to airbags, basketball to dodgeball and of course trampoline, there is plenty to keep the entire family entertained.

Enjoy time with friends or family in safety, with expert and passionate coaches on hand to assist you or help you learn more and try harder. You can try various different sporting activities such as parkour and gymnastics in the safety of the foam pit, on the airbag and using a trampoline against 'the wall'. Slackline is another popular activity which you can try above a soft landing on an air mattress.
