1. Discover the hidden gems of Cannes

Glamorous, exciting Cannes is one of France’s most popular tourist destinations, and without insider knowledge you can sometimes feel that you’re just following the well-beaten tourist trail.

As wonderful as Cannes’ iconic beach clubs and art deco hotels are, we also know that one of the greatest pleasures of a holiday abroad is stumbling upon the little 'hidden treasures' - perhaps a locals’ food haunt, an artwork tucked away on a backstreet, or a quiet garden with a stunning Mediterranean view.

Cannes has all of these and more: you’ve just got to know where to look. To help you get started, we’ve put together a list of some of Cannes ‘small and secret spots’ so that you can break away from the crowd and make your own discoveries.

2. Must-see attractions in Cannes

Cannes is a town bursting with memorable things to do. Once a quiet Mediterranean fishing port ruled by Cistercian monks and regularly attacked by pirates, Cannes has grown to be one of the most glamorous places on earth and a fabulous holiday destination.

Yet it’s not all celebrity and sunshine under the palm trees, for a Cannes vacation also provides an immersive experience in art and music, shopping and nightlife, not to mention its stunning history, architecture, and culture.

Because Cannes is so far from being a ‘one-trick pony’, we've decided to pull together the top ‘must-see’ attractions, each representing one special aspect of this wonderful city.

3. Day trip to Biot

Location
Biot

On a sunny Tuesday morning in April I found myself getting quite lost in the maze of narrow streets and lanes in the stunning, and slightly quirky, hilltop town of Biot.

The 15 or so minute journey by local bus from the centre of Antibes to the hilltop village of Biot makes Biot one of the easiest towns to visit if you happen to be staying in Antibes. If you are coming from further afield then the SNCF train that journies along the coast stops at the central bus station just outside Port Vauban (Antibes) so that you can make the quick transition to the local Envibus service.
