The Dior Fashion House expands into new surroundings

Having moved just along the street from their original boutique, the new Dior flagship store in Cannes stretches over three levels and offers three times the amount of shopping space.

Situated just across the road from the famous Palais des Festivals on La Croisette, the new store opening coincided with the beginning of the 2016 Cannes Film Festival back in May, giving visitors more fashion creations to enjoy from the red carpet.

The original Dior boutique only featured women's wear, whereas the new fashion house has women’s and men’s fashion, leathergoods, timepieces, jewelry, ready-to-wear and footwear collections.

Dior Homme has seen a strong development in all markets. In our old boutique, which I remember opening more than 20 years ago, there was simply no room for it. But the times have changed,” said Dior's chief executive officer Sidney Toledano to WWD. “Husband and wife often come to shop together, and we cannot ask one or the other to run 50 meters down the road to another venue. We would lose them and besides, it’s not convenient, though stylistically we do keep the collections apart. Some brands choose to merge the two. At Dior, the man is very manly and the woman remains feminine.

Among the artworks to be found accompanying the collections will be armchairs by Russell Woodard, lamps designed by Wouter Hoste, and an animated mural by Oyoram.
