Two of the most popular Palme d'Or winners have been immortalised in several murals under the Alexander III bridge close to La Croisette in Cannes.

As part of the 70th-anniversary celebrations for the Cannes Film Festival, several murals have been created with the faces of the characters from Pulp Fiction (1994 Palme d'Or winner) and The Piano (1993 Palme d'Or winner). Artists are still currently working on the murals, putting the finishing touches to the faces of Samuel L Jackson, John Travolta, Harvey Keitel, Sam Neill and Holly Hunter.

The artists have come from the Emile Cohl School of Art in Lyon, where they specialise in monumental mural painting. It is expected to be finished in the coming days and has already created quite a lot of excitement from passers by.
