As things start to heat up again in Cannes, we are still a couple of months away from the red carpet season but that certainly doesn't mean that the town is deserted. On the contrary!

March kicks off with the historical re-enactment of napoleon's landing in Golfe Juan, reminding us that this region was inhabited long before the starlets of the silver screen descended upon the grand belle epoque hotels. Here is our guide for what not to miss this March in Cannes.

Celebrating the arrival of Napoleon on 1st March 1815, the first weekend of March will see the town of Vallauris Golfe-Juan taken over by the re-enactment, complete with bayonets, musket fire and hand-to-hand combat.

Many events are organised, including the battle - with Calvary - Napoleon's ship, a mini Napoleon market with stalls selling memorabilia and music concerts.
