The 70th anniversary edition of the world famous Cannes Film Festival is due to take place from the 17th to 28th May 2017.

From the very first Film Festival in 1946 where Rita Hayworth was in competition with her film 'Gilda', through the 1990's when Gérard Depardieu won best actor for his role in 'Cyrano de Bergerac', and into more recent days when actors such as Clint Eastwood and Robert de Niro have been recognised for their roles within the film-making industry, the Cannes Film Festival is recognised the world over as one of THE events of the silver screen.

With a red carpet that has always played host to some of the most glamorous men and women of the entertainment world, the Cannes Film Festival gives us the chance to ogle the outfits that have made and destroyed careers, and that have gone down in the history books.

You can revisit all of the past 69 Film Festivals on the official website. Make sure you have the dates in your diary for 2017 Cannes Film Festival.
